Every time we visit Razon’s restaurant or some great dining place in Tagaytay, we usually order for Sizzling Bulalo Steak. Well, who doesn’t like to eat a delicious, juicy and very tender beef steak served with creamy mushroom gravy? Yummmmmmmy!
In the Philippines, we normally cook the beef shank with soup, which is called “Bulalo.” Nevertheless, if you’re thinking of a flavorful dish that you could serve on a romantic dinner. The Sizzling Bulalo Steak is a dish which your partner will surely enjoy!

So let me share with you the simplest recipe for this mouthwatering dish.

What you need:

·         1 Kilo Beef Shank (approx. 3 slices)

·         About 2 liters of water for boiling

·         2pcs medium-sized onion

·         1 tbsp. salt

·         1 tsp. cracked peppercorn (“paminta”)

·         2 tbsp. butter

·         1 small can button mushroom (sliced)

·         1 25g McCormick instant mushroom gravy mix

What to do:

1.      Arrange the beef flat into a pressure cooker; put the water, onion, salt and pepper. Cover and let it cook for 30 minutes, lower the heat once the pot comes up to pressure.

2.      Once cooked, carefully remove the beef from the water and set aside.

3.      Fry the mushroom in a pan with 1 tbsp. butter for about 2 minutes, then set aside.

4.      Dissolve gravy mix in 1 cup hot water (from the beef stock/soup), stir continuously until smooth.

How to make it Sizzle:

Place the sizzling plate in an open fire (high heat) for 5 minutes. Then put it on a hot pad or wood. Immediately spread some butter onto the hot plate, put the beef and top with mushrooms. While the plate is still hot pour the gravy over the meat and be ready for some sizzle! Have a great munch!!!
