Cigarette Butt Found in AYSEE's Papaitan Dish

Last Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, around 2PM, my husband and I decided to have lunch at AYSEE SISIG at St. Martin Street - Pasig. Because, I remember that it was recently featured in Rated K, as one of the top ten food of Ms. Korina Sanchez. When we got there, the place doesn't look like a restaurant, more like a carinderia, open area with few tables and chairs, dirty floor and sticky tables. We're not pa-soshal nman so we stayed and ordered their bestseller, Sisig with egg, Papaitan and of course, rice.

Service was fast and I was impressed by how the soup was presented, over a flame to keep it hot. Sisig was served on a sizzling plate, with the usual taste. The Papaitan however, taste really good! Hubby said it’s tagalog style, not so bitter, sour soup with the kick of ginger and the innards were cooked just right.

I was really enjoying my soup when suddenly; I chewed on something spongy in texture, soft but couldn't break by teeth. Definitely not meat! It has a bitter taste and I really thought it was cotton with alcohol, which they used to put a flame on the broiler.  My husband said it was a cigarette butt. And the waiter confirmed it, but didn't do anything about it. Two minutes after, he returned and said they'll just replace it with another one. I declined, and told him to cancel it instead.

They didn’t seem to care at all! Didn’t even offer water, although I said the cotton has an alcohol taste. I’ve noticed that the girl behind the counter, probably the cashier or the owner, was just observing us. Nobody even approach us to apologize or explain what happened.  I already lost my appetite so we just asked for the bill.
It was horrible service. That was the first and definitely the last time I’ll dine at AYSEE SISIG, Pasig.
